Saint Barthélemy is a French island in the Lesser Antilles located in the Caribbean Sea. Together with the islets under its jurisdiction that lie within 8 nautical miles of its coastline, it constitutes the Collectivity of Saint Barthélemy, an overseas collectivity (COM) as defined by Article 74 of the Constitution since July 15, 2007. Prior to that date, it was a commune under the jurisdiction of the overseas department of Guadeloupe.

It is commonly known as Saint-Barth (or, among English speakers, St. Barts). Its inhabitants refer to themselves as Saint-Barth in the Creole spoken on the island.

Saint Barthélemy is a tourist destination, particularly for high-end tourism.

Saint Barth was once inhabited by an indigenous people, the “Arawaks.”
