The Turks and Caicos Islands, locally known in Creole as “Di Turks an’ Caicos,” are a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean located southeast of the Bahamas, northeast of Cuba, and north of Haiti. They consist of a chain of seventy-six islands with a total land area of 616.3 km² (at high tide) and 948 km² (at low tide), divided into two archipelagos: the Turks Islands and the Caicos Islands. Together with the Bahamas, these islands form the Lucayan Archipelago.
